GRO Talks stands for Growth, Research, and Optimization. The GRO Talks Podcast is the companion to the GRO Roundtable: short, bite-sized episodes that summarise a recent roundtable topic—experimentation, metrics, and how to run better tests.
Co-hosted by Matt Beischel and Iqbal Ali.
What the episodes cover
- Novelty and familiarity effects — Often overstated; how to tell real effects from regression to the mean.
- Test targeting — Triggers, multi-stage targeting, and tool differences (e.g. with guest Jonas Alves).
- Metrics — How many to track, when to decide them, and why your primary metric should match goals, not just conversion.
- Testing big vs. testing small — Nuances of scale and impact in experimentation.
- Authenticity in case studies — Transparency, sample sizes, and avoiding misleading claims.
- Low traffic — Metrics, research alternatives, simulations and priors when traffic is scarce.
- AI and CRO — Shortcuts vs. trust, ethics, and long-term value.
- Why programs fail — Incentives, psychological safety, and support for learning from failure.
